If I may, I would avoid the "paint chip" fad with German dark grey. Much more obvious would be areas where the overall dusty exterior would have had crew hands or uniforms wear it clean. Near edges where crews would have grabbed onto a surface or would have slid down to exit a vehicle, those areas should be dry-brushed in a dark grey.

A few magazine articles are showing this. Steve Zaloga in his current spate of buildups in Military Modeling is doing this consistently. Look at his Renault UE tractor in the current issue.
