Thank you for the posting, I think it has some excellent observations, and backs up those observations with photographic evidence. I recall attending a seminar by Steve Zaloga at an AMPS show a couple years ago where he discussed similar ideas, and presented various slides of modern tanks in various environments (dry dirt, desert sand, damp dirt, mud, deep mud, etc.) and pointed out the various appearances of the road wheels, tracks, etc.
