In WW II - and beyond - armor was welded with an "18-8" filler metal to prevent cracking. That designation stands for a 18% chromium and 8% nickel alloy steel, more commonly known as stainless steel. So, armor welds don't rust and shouldn't be weathered with rust streaks.

Most antennas are black or the vehicle color. Only automobile antennas are chrome silver.

There is a trend in aircraft modeling to paint synthetic rubber tires (as the Germans used in WW II) a dark but not black gray, based on the believe that they must be different from natural rubber. One of the additives included in rubber to dissipate heat and static electriciy and to improve strength was carbon black, the definition of pure black pigment. If anything, synthetics had more of it than natural rubber, so they should be very black, tending toward brown.
