John,
I would imagine lacquer thinner would be an acceptable reducer for Mr. Surfacer. I have shot MS dozens of times through both my Paasche VL and Iwata HP-C and have never experienced any ill-effects from the solvent-based paint. I would recommend a thorough cleaning, capped off by blowing plenty of air through the brush to insure a complete eradication of the solvents.
