| Subject: | German late WW2 softskins primer | |

Merry Christmas to all,
Being quite educated in modelling German armor (I mean tanks and other AFV's)I recently found myself in the dead end when it came to softskin modelling. I have that Italeri Opel Blitz late version with wooden cab and Holzgas generator waiting to be started. I discovered that I know nothing about painting techniques used in late versions of German softskins in WWII. Especially in these trucks which have wooden elements replacing the steel ones due to lack of specific materials in Germany late in WWII. Can anyone tell me whether wooden elements in German trucks (cargo beds, driver's cabins) were in that times primed with red oxide primer before painting of the whole vehicle with Dark Yellow? Or maybe the Dark Yellow was applied directly on the wooden surfaces? I need this information before I start to weather my truck with paint chips, etc. showing wrong shades of paint under the camouflage.
Thanks for any help,
Piotr |
