Chris: That is pretty much what I expected. That is why it is such a suprise to me that we still have to deal with this situation. I realise that some modellers feel the need to get it absolutly right or not at all. I understand that, it's just that personally it doesn't really matter that much to me. But that's just me.

It would also seem reasonable to me that if someone had an original paint chip stored out of sunlight and wild temp variations, all that would be needed would be a light sanding to expose the absolute authentic color.

But as you stated the formula is still available, and there are several good condition original vehicles/weapons. That makes me wonder if we will ever be lucky enough to have decent paint manufacturers get into a competition like we see DML,AFV Club, and Tristar in to finally get us some truly accurate paint. If we would be lucky enough to get something like a manufacturer making a complete line that is truly accurate, I wonder if modellers having been conditioned by a lifetime of using Tamya,ModelMaster,PollyScale etc.. seeing the true color thinking "That just looks wrong" Kind of like Pavlov's dog coming out with a conditioned knee jerk type response to what they are just so used to seeing.

But as I had stated, even with this I have little doubt that there will be a sizable number of modellers that will be ready to tell someone that they are wrong and give reasons why to you and every one else that they can reach. To be honest that is the main reason why I do not really like to attend IPMS events to enter models in competitions. From my personal experience just to many times that some one that is judging a category that has little or no real knowledge of what is correct and what is not; and then after the contest proudly telling you that what you have proof of just is not right because of the "I'm the judge and I know better than anyone" mentality.
