In my experience this always generates a lively discussion. It has always been interesting to me when I apply the knowledge I have aquired in regards to artist / perspective relationship versus the modellers "scale effect" concept. From an artist pure perspective point of view, the farther away i.e. smaller scale an object is; the darker it should be. If any of you doubt this go outside and look at any object that is white, then go about (depending on the size of the object) 1-3 miles or 1.5-5 kilometers away and look at it to see what color it appears to be to you at this distance/scaled down image. It will always be darker. Like it or not that is the way the human eye works. Also If you doubt this do some research on paintings of objects. You will probably see that artists regularly depict objects that are closer as lighter objects, and more distant objects as darker objects.

So here we are with a concept that flys in the face of artists around the world and through time. But I think personally that I don't care, all I want is to enjoy what I do and be able to see what I do; instead of painting everything I do almost black to conform to the reality of what the human eye and reality tells me about distance/scale.

Just my idea on this.
