1942 Southern Russia was a wild mix of colors. Solid monotone yellow and/or sand were photographed in a 1SSLAH parade in Paris that June; there are photos of light stugs(F) in the GD during Blau, and there are the famous color photos of StugIIIF's battling in the tractor district of Stalingrad during the October factory battles.

Question is whether it was desert sand or dunkelgelb. Jean Restayn wrote a significant essay on this very topic in his Kharkov book (JJF). Tom Jentz books of that time period often feature color drawings of desert cammo'd Panzers during Blau.

From the scattering of Blau photos I have seen, Op. Blau is a total free for all in term of colors. DAK, Luftwaffe, civilian colors, wild cammo jobs, everything under the sun has been cited for Blau. As to the exact colors, no one can say right now.
