Mark,

Well, I'm not all emotional about this. I hunted down the thread on ML about this from this past Fall (I'd forgotten I even posted in it, briefly), and it seems Steve Z, Jim G., and David D. pretty much killed your argument.

I think it's great to be skeptical and look for evidence, etc. I haven't done any primary research in years and have enough on my plate to keep me from doing any now. So I don't see how exchanging a bunch of emails can "help the cause", so to speak. Thanks for the invite, though.

Here's a link to the discussion on ML.

I gotta be honest in saying that most of the technical jargon escapes me, as I'm not familiar with all of the FS# systems, ANA codes, etc, to speak intelligently about it. And while even the best researchers make mistakes, I have pretty good faith in Zaloga and friends to get this stuff right.

And, as I've now said in this thread and on ML, to me the black/OD just doesn't show up that well in BW photos, so I don't see some dramatic difference over the course of the war.

In the end, who knows? Maybe you are right and will "prove" your case. For me, after viewing color photos where I look more at the amount of filth on the vehicles rather than the underlying color, it may not matter that much what we use, as long as it's not pink, etc. Good luck.

Rob
