Please help!

I have just finished my Panther G steel wheel version by Dragon. When I weathered the tracks using a mixture of oils and pigments. I used white spirit to fix the pigments to the tracks. Soon after though several tracks became seperated.
The tracks were the individual links included with the kit and were secured with Humbrol liquid poly.

Does white spirit act aggressively against the liquid poly? Has anyone else had this problem?
Many thanks in advance.

Ruairi
