Isn't this a matter of personal choice more than it is a fad? Having spent a great deal of time around (and in) the real thing, I choose to construct, paint and weather my models to mirror the real thing and keep chipping to a minimum depending on the subject/location/conditons. Those that choose to take the more visually appealing (or artistic) approach produce some beautiful models that I enjoy viewing.
I'm certainly glad I stay away from judging at shows. How can someone with my views fairly judge a model that does not appear to have weathered like the real thing (in my opinion)? You would almost need two catagories, "real world" and "artistic". |
