| Subject: | Tamiya Acylics make lousy primer | |

| Learned a lesson. I usually use Floquil primer form my primer paint. But I was low and didn't have enough to cover my T-34. I always wondered if acrylics would work as a primer because it would dry quicker and maybe reduce time between coats. So I shot my tank with with Tamiya medium gray. it covered well and went on tight. But the problem is that it does not sand well. it really doesn't sand down like the Floquil or other lacquers do, it sort of 'rips" leaving a hard edge. This edge shows up when you repaint the primer back on whereas a lacquer can be feathered down with fine sanding sticks or steel wool. Another model building learning experience. |
