My brother went to an Art College so gave me the one his when he moved onto other media. It's fantastic -- literally scrubs the metal fantastically clean. Jewelers use this too. (and you might be able to find them more cheaply under "ultrasonic jewelry cleaners").

For solution, just some soapy water is fine.
