Same problem here... Aztek will now work ok with the grey nozzle and MUST be deeply cleaned before and after using the airbrush. I found that micro brushes help a lot and sometimes before starting the actual painting session I just run a small cup full of thinner to get the parts "wet". The problems you mentions happened before when I cleaned my airbrush less carefuly that I do today. Yes I use enamels and yes, dry paint blocks parts... with your described results as an "added effect" that's what I call poor design as they should be easy to disassemble and clean, and Aztek or Testors should include micro brushes with each unit to do a proper maintenance. So I guess I will next go for a Badger or Iwata.
I too use a compressor w/o a tank but pressure regulator so it works fine... I'm too in a small apartment and do most of my paint work in the balcony.
