It's definitely a technique that works.
I use those disposable plastic left-over containers as a dust-proof shelter for future-dipped parts. I put a clean, folded-up paper towel on the upside-down top, dip the part in Future, carefully place it on the paper towel, then put the container over top.
For flat panels, you'd have to have a way to stand them on edge under the cover.
