Hello
I tried this using CMK pigments and an assortment of thinners (water, alcohol, tamiya thinners, etc). It didn't work very well as the air brush clogged after only a few moments and turning up the pressure only made a mess.
Turpentine might just do the trick although some good ventilation would be needed.
Another method I have been meaning to try is a modified version of one used by Marcus Nicholls on a rally car. He created a very nice splattered mud effect by using an old tooth brush. Adding some pigments might just add a little depth.
