Glenn,

I think we are pretty much in sync on this one.

1. Yep that's the same way I do it. Base hit for me.

2. Same here. Dark grey usually with a lot of weathering. Another base hit.

3. Hmmm. I mix my washes when I need them but I don't put clean turpentine down first. Foul ball.

4. Definitely. Another base hit. The bases are loaded.

5. I rarely use paint chips since I can't see many real examples. If I do, it's in extremely limited quantities. Another hit. One run scores.

6. I use a product called 'Instant Rust' which actually rusts so I get various shades naturally. Then I add several washes to cause more variation. I'll take another base hit (thought about claiming a double for the actual rusting). Another run scores.

7. I paint metallic parts, such as tools in Model Master Gun Metal which is extremely dark. I do drybrush in Model Master Aluminum which is much more dull. Then I wash over it to further blend out the silver color. I'll take a foul ball but actually I think it's a base hit.

8. Absolutely. I always decal before any weathering or drybrushing. Base hit and another runs scores.

9. No doubt. But what is odd is sometimes real items appear to be hanging from nothing since the tie downs are small and strapped under the packs. But even so I make sure to show the straps being tied down since the viewer gets the wrong impression otherwise. Another base hit and one more run scores.

10. Yes but. For me the key is to allow enough time for each step to dry and set. Sometimes all the weathering can be done in a couple days and sometimes it takes weeks. Depends on the project. I'll take another base hit and yet another run scores.

So as of now, I've got 5 runs in, the bases loaded and no one out!

Jim
