after using Tamiya's Lacquer Thinner with their XF paints I was finally able to achieve the proper soft edge separation between camo colors on a 3-tone German paintjob without any overspray or those tiny splatter marks. Near perfect application for an "acrylic". I couldn't even get that consistently with Lifecolor, which I consider the best of the traditional acrylics. Vallejo's dry on the tip too fast (low humidity climate here) and I rarely use them anymore in light of this new evidence.

That to me is worth its weight in gold. I have been spraying all types of acrylics for years now and could never do what enamels could in this regards. Now when using Lacquer Thinner with Tamiya paints this has changed my opinion.

I recently sprayed a white interior with XF-2 using this idea and it went down so smooth it took on a satin finish. Most impressive and even with the smell is worth giving it a go.

I will say this (and not to be rude) but if you are new to an airbrush it will still take some practice to master. It's not a miracle and the fundamentals of airbrushing remain. I use around a 50-50 ratio, set my compressor to around 18psi for the base coat and down to 10-12psi for the tight camo lines. With some tweaking of the thinning ratio I can even get it to spray smooth pencil thin lines around 8psi. I could never do this with X-20A before and my Iwata, so I do believe there to a tangible improvement in spray quality vs. previous thinners.

HTH,

Mike

ps - supplies in the US are getting low (?), so plan ahead when ordering.
