Wow, this has to be the most exciting posting around here in awhile! But to answer the original question, yes you can use Lacquer thinner with your Tamiya paints. I have done it for years, ever since David Nicles told me about..something like 10 years ago.

Since I use Lacquer mainely for my Model Master Paints as well, I just buy a 1 gallon can from Home Depot, thats a home improvement store for you guys on the otherside of the pond:) (an oversized hardware store)

I have never had a problem with using it with the Tamiya paints and the last model I used it on was a 1/350 Ohio Class Sub. And it came out great! Sprayed smooth and did not clog my Paasche air brush.

I still prefer my Model Master Enamel over the Tamiya paints, my theory is, why bother using an "suppossibly" acrylic paint with Lacquer when your defeating the purpose of using an acrylic? Thats just me though and I understand the position about using the lacquer.

Oh, just to add to the dispute, Tamiya still sucks when brushing it on, but if you apply a primer its goes on fine. I like brushing my small items with acrylics as I tend to use oils paints over them like you would figure painting.

Thats my 2 worthless U.S. cents :)

Robert
