That is a very slick idea, original AND interesting.
Two points if I might? First, are you going to add something to represent the "green sand" (probably not the correct nomenclature in this case)that made up the form itself?
And second, the collar at the bottom of the turret was either 50mm or 70mm thick (I "think" 70mm?) after machining, Your's looks just a bit too thin. Is it too late to beef it up a little? (Or is it really even necessary? :-))

Lastly, how did you reproduce the color of the casting? I like the look of it!
