| Hi all , many thanks for the kind comments , Well spotted over the turret ring to late to beef it up . As to the casting colour I matched it to a piece of cast steel I have in the workshop . I mixed dark brown and dark blue till I achieve what was near enough , and added a very tiny amount of silver . To give it that steely look. This is just a one off display showing scratchbuilding and not meant to be part of a diorama . I am not certain about the colour of casting sand in Russia but in the UK it is a semi gloss black. I will add this at a later stage . It's main aim is to explain to modellers just how complicated casting turrets is. Not many have the experiance I have of working in the Shipyards and Power Industry for 37 years . cheers ian |
