Dear fellow modelers

I just had my first try with the two greasy Tamiya weathering sticks sand and mud. I wanted to do the heavy weathering on a Tiger II but somehow it didn't turn out right at all. It looked pretty much as if a kid had painted stripes of color on the model and you couldn't blend it afterwards. Has anyone an idea how to use those sticks properly? Or is it hopeless? Thanks for any advice.
