You can extend the life of the canned air a bit by placing the can in a pot of WARM (NOT HOT!) tap water. This helps prevent the freezing and loss of air pressure. But, as Dave says, you only get about a total of 15 minutes of air time (adjustable depending on if you can modulate the air trigger to spray at a lower pressure).

The cans are good to "cut your teeth on," though, but they get kinda spendy if they're all you're using. I know I had to mow a lot of lawns in my youth to afford all those Badger canned air cans I went through. In the long run, an inexpensive air compressor is actually cheaper.

You might consider using an old spare tire. Badger makes an adaptor - a small threaded brass ring - that screws into the canned air valve that allows the canned air valve to fit a tire valve stem. Filling up the tire at the gas station is cheaper than the canned air, but the old rubber smell can be a bit objectioable. Still, it'll get you past the canned air until you can afford a compressor! I airbrushed a lot of models using a spare tire for compressed air.

Good luck, Mike.
