Generally the interior of a vehicle wasn't white washed. The seats would be painted the interior color. The front seats were always padded. The bench seats in the Ausf C were often padded too. Padded seats were used mid way though the D vehicle, when wood took over. The entire inside and outside of the vehicle would be painted the overall body color before any camo, etc was added. The wood parts would be painted probably, but then with all the wear of metal boxes, nail soled boots, etc the paint would surely wear off.

There are a fair number of original interior photos floating around, as well as museum photos which can be of some value if the vehicle is well restored. The 251 Halftracks in Polish Museum books is generally excellent. It covers some D vehicles but the vehicles are virtually mint looking and authentic.
