HI.
You can get oil paints to dry faster (and to a matte finish) using a 'drying box'. Some folks use an old Crock Pot, and set it to a low temperature. You dry the items you've painted in there. BUT YOU MUST BE CAREFUL YOU DON'T GET IT TOO HOT! (caps intentional). You can melt your model or figure that way!
Another option is to take a box of some time, attach an incandescent bulb so that it shines into the box, and use that as a drying box.
Or you can just wait a long time for them to dry naturally.
Putting a blob of the oil paints you plan to use on cardboard before using them will draw out some of the oil - helping the paints dry flatter and faster. Of course they get harder to use then!
You'll find some colors will not dry flat - especially reds - until weeks have passed!
You can mix oils with enamel paints (like Humbrols). Same thinners, and you get all kinds of good colours then.
Finally, the water mixable or eco-friendly oils work OK. You can mix them with regular oils paints, but they are then no longer water-soluble.
