I am not sure about the color of the tarps. You are correct about the great
coats. We visited the museum at Paris Island, NC some years ago. I saw a
collection of what were supposed to be WWII Red Army uniform's. Most were
olive green or khaki, including a great coat. Could be that some of the
items I saw were not genuine. Or that it was of some Soviet client state
items that were mistakenly represented as Russian. In any event after
checking my few uniform books I see that they are a dark brown/gray color.
Here is a notation from a book I have "World Army Uniforms, 1939 to the
present". "The color of greatcoats varied considerably and ranged from pale
gray to red-brown". No olive green, sorry about that. On another note in the
same book there is a color print of none other than Guards Lt. N. N. Orlov.
His trousers are captured German. This is the second book I have seen
referencing the Lt. |
