Hi Cristophe,
Firstly, believe me, I have tried literally every nozzle available for the
Aztek. None of them lasted all that long for me. I use Tamiya or Polly Scale
acrylics, thinned (70+% Tamiya thinner). The Tamiya + black nozzle (for base
coat) / tan nozzle (for fine lines) seemed to work out the best.
Secondly, yes, the Iwata has the long needle in there. The instructions that
came with the brush specify that you don't need to remove the needle after
every usage. They recommend only doing that "periodically" - the rest of the
time just blow thinner through it, wash out the cup and put the thing away.
So far I am only breaking down the brush completely once every ten or so
sessions - and at that there has not (so far) been any visible build-up of
paint on any of the internal parts when I do break it down.
I know exactly what you mean about not wanting to deal with the whole
disassembly issue. That's precisely why I got the Aztek and stuck with it so
long. Now that I have the Iwata though, I have to say that it is not that
big a chore to break it down once a week - it takes seconds to get the
needle out, maybe 2-3 minutes for a complete break down.
For me the difference in performance between the Iwata and the 470 is very
marked. I am now able to spray a hair-line consistently, with no effort and
no mishaps- a claim I was never able to make with the Aztek, which always
seemed somewhat finicky to me. Once again, this is only my personal
experience. It could well be that there was some nuance of Aztek usage that
eluded me.
Regards,
David.
