Hi guys,
I need some help making up my mind. For about 2 years I’ve been working on my diorama, planning, sculpting and plotting out scenes. It would have been my first diorama, and it is considered to be a 25 years plan. Figural speaking of course. But now I am in doubt, thinking things over and I figure that, because this will be my first diorama ever, the idea is too high on the ladder… I mean it’s not just a simple diorama, but you must need ingenuity. Not that I have none, but the resources are poor. No references e.g. which makes it al the more complex sculpting ‘my idea’. In short my idea is to place an 88 mm flak in a ruined building, in a ruined town. Supported by a small division of waffen ss. The figures I have sculpted are Revell and Heller (airfix), all severely upgraded with all sorts of material. Varying from epoxy-putty to even wood. In general I am content with the figures, camouflage schemes etc. The problem lies in creating the scenery. Now I have studied diorama’s, mostly 1/35, on the net and have come up with great new ideas for dioramas in scale 1/72. And now my dilemma: should I continue with my original idea, so it will probably be finished in the year 2028 (if there is still a world), or shall I first start a new diorama, a smaller one, less complex but with the same skill and realism???? Please give me some advice. I already have a new idea, simple but astonishing when finished!
I also want some advice for figure-selection. I am a great fan or supporter of using camouflage clothing for WWII soldiers. So it’s also part of my new idea, I thought for realism the Preiser figs, but they are grenadiers from the period 1939-1942. So are they useful in painting camouflage clothing? Because I always think camouflage is from later periods (1944/45) and for colder climates after doing research in scale 1/35! Another hint for my new idea, I am looking for figures sitting, chilling eating etc. This is a rarity in the Revell arsenal.
Thanks for support, advice and all comments are welcome,
Thanks in advance,
Youri from the Netherlands |
