The construction forum is for the discussion of small scale AFV modelling. Usually this refers to 1-76th and 1-72nd scale AFVs. |

Hi Doug!
First you should relax about DML, let me tell you what the story is all
about, like the half RC/ half toy Dragon 1:72 tanks.
The first approach of DML was to put up a line of die-cast, fully assembled,
1/72nd scale RC tanks. Just look at the Microtech series of DML.
When DML learned that Trumpeter had been thinking about their own 1:72 line
they discontinued their whole RC line and abandoned the idea of having more
RC products to counter Trumpeter, (what I heard is that both companies are
very competitive to each other, strangely leaving aside whats happening in
Europe, just look at the Bradley for instance).
Now they want to do a new line of "normal" plastic-kits for assembly but
they wouldnt throw away the remains of the RC-project. In order to save R&D
costs they just took over all the stuff they made so far and release them as
a kit, just without engine.
This was a most unfortunate decision for us but I am very optimistic that
all future kits are going to be made "properly". Maybe soon weŽll have
downscaled kit from the 1:35 DML line as well.
Look at Revell, it took them first six kits to have a real good one. So the
same would apply to DML I think, (how many times they needed to retool their
big kits by the way?).
If the management of DML is clever enough, they wont go the same way like
all the other manufacturers and say: "We need a Tiger a Panther, an Abrams
and a T-34 because we need to have these kits in our product line, everyone
is going to buy it"
Unfortunately, looking at their current and future releases, it seems that
they are not that clever.

will be all new.
This Thursday, at an IPMS evening I had the Revell U-Boot kit in my hands
(whew!), gorgeous its going to be 50 Euros.... |
