I think part of the attraction comes from the rarity/exclusivity of resin kits, which make them more valuable in our eyes.

But I see what you mean : strangely the copy of a plastic part, well cast in resin looks better to me than the original part in plastic. The medium just looks better I think or maybe it's just the fumes ;-)
