| Subject: | Removing old paint | |

Hey guys,
I have a query I hope someone can help with. I have an old 1/72 Esci Hummel model that I built many years ago. I was thinking of redoing it with more detail, better paint job etc, as I can no longer find this model on the market. I built it in my "pre-airbrush" days, so I painted it with a rather thick coat of Humbrol enamel paint. I wish to remove this paint, along with the decals, to redo it. My question is what is the best way to remove this 15 year old paint, and also the old tube glue that I used? Should I use turpentine, or is there a specific product on the market for this? I really do not want to damage the plastic. I also don't want to ditch this model as I feel it has a lot of potential, with aftermarket parts (as well as representing a good challenge for me!). Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike C. |
