Ok, just bits done today.
I scratch-built the spare wheel mount based on the three photos in “Panzer Colors 1” and I also used other modelers work with the Tamiya 232 to support the pics. This involved a piece of brass strip 1.5mm wide being bent a number of times with a few bits of plastic rod used to represent the 2 big hinges. I’ve still got about 10-15% more work before I’d be happy with it.
The other thing is replacing the “spaced armor”. The fact that the limitations of plastic kits made the Roden part to be over 50mm (0.8mm) in 1/1 scale not the 10mm (0.138mm) in reality kind of makes it a must do modification along with filing the tools off the nose. I’ll be attempting to do the angle-bar bracing out of brass (if I can find some around the hobby room somewhere) along with the plates that are riveted to both the bracing plates and the nose. Then its on to other things :).
