Mike,
What was the base color? Do you mean whatever the camouflage color is, in
this case, Panzer Yellow? Or did you use a grey color?

been trying to recreate an old, rusty Pz IV type muffler. I tried all the
1/35 techniques (baking soda coating, dremel tool etc etc), but had no
success outside butchering the tiny mufflers. So I just tried something
new. I painted the muffler in the base coat, and after it dried, I slapped
on a thicker coat of Model Master leather. Under a bright light, I let this
start to dry, then started poking it with a clean paintbrush, and created a
minor stipple effect, but with a hint of the base color underneath. This
has reproduced a rusty, used old muffler effect, and looks really good on my
Pz IV.
