I really appreciate the comments. Yes, it was a hard decision, but one that was a long time coming. I had been fighting with this decision for well over a year. Some days I was ready to throw in the towel, and on other days my enthusiasm was higher. A real emotional roller coaster. Maintaining the site was pretty much an addiction, in that I knew what I had to do, but it took me a long time, and it was very difficult to actually do it. Now that I've finally retired, it's really more of a relief than anything.
I really want to thank everyone who helped the site grow over the years, especially you Matt, who gave me a lot of great ideas and inspiration in the early years of the site. And of course to Stephen as well, who is probably the most prolific model reviewer on the net. Hopefully everybody's support for Simon will remain high.
My retirement has already reaped rewards, as I was able to work on a model the other evening, for the first time since before the hurricanes hit us last year. I'm almost finished with the major construction phase of one of Mirage's T-26s. Just a few smaller details, and the wheels, and it's ready for paint.
I'd almost forgotten how fun model building can be...
