Forums - Modelling / Smallscale

The construction forum is for the discussion of small scale AFV modelling. Usually this refers to 1-76th and 1-72nd scale AFVs.

Hi Paul,
Even though the site is now Simon's, I'll go ahead and give a little info, as I don't think he gets to this forum very often.

The monthly bandwidth usage averaged between 19 and 22 gigabytes. That always frustrated me, because the hosting packages offered by the webhost I was using were either 20 or 30 gig per month, and I had to shell out for the larger package, to accomodate those months that went over 20 :-( But most months hovered right around the 20 gig mark.

But the problem right now isn't the webhost, it's the domain name. I had originally registered ontheway.us, which is only available to US citizens, which Simon is not. We were debating what to do about that, whether or not I should retain the domain ownership while he hosted the site at his own webhost, when the domain suddenly expired (without any warning to me from the place I had registered it with!). Simon decided that seeing as it was offline for the moment, he'd take the opportunity to register a new domain name.

Ontheway.com is the obvious choice, but someone was squatting on that name for years, wanting something like $1500 for it. They apparently found a buyer, because it is now the home of a New York deli !! So I'm not sure what Simon will eventually go with.

I'll let him know that you inquired about helping. I remember that you've offered to help several times in the past as well, and I very much appreciated it. Maybe he'll contact you if he decides that some sort of collaboration would be interesting to pursue.

Thanks,
-Doug
