From what I have been told, these kits mark the long awaited return of Tomomi Kimura to the scene. His 1/76 scale Miniscale Factory range included some excellent kits of Polish, French and German tanks, which I used to stock.

Sadly, these kits have not been available for a while. At the time Tomomi said that he was planning to move into 1/72 scale, and that he would make the masters but someone else would produce the kits. The first kit was going to be a Pz 38(t). And in fairness this was a 2 or 3 years ago now. Long before UM's kits came on the scene.

I have not seen the new Tristar kits, and while price is an issue, I have already had some of my customers who bought Miniscale Factory kits (16.50-17.50 Pounds Sterling at the time) express interest in this new range. The old Miniscale Factory quality the kits had relatively few parts with no hull floor, but the level of moulded on detail was amazing. To give you an example, I thought there were mould lines on the upper hulls of some of the Renault tanks he produced, until closer inspection revealed them to be the cabling for the headlights!

I agree that Pz 38(t)s are not the best choice of an opening subject for a new range. What I hope is that the kits that existed in the old Miniscale Factory range will resurface in 1/76 or 1/72. And even better would be if the unreleased Pz IIIA that was listed back then could see the light of day.
