The AS-90 was a little earlier in Trumpeter's entry into the market. I t was quite cool that someone was willing to do the beast; but it was "rough in some places. Truly the turret fit was not good. The front sprokets force the kit tracks in too close to the transmission. The Turret bins are a bit basic and the mudguads are pretty thick. It is a detail controdiction at times. The 52 cal. gun is not scaled accurately and the ribbed(bellows) recoil cover should sag downward. The tracks are indeed a bit rough. There are several other detail problems with the kit. The mold seems are everywhere and good reference is necessary to know which need to be removed. I also believe the travel lock is not proportioned correctly.
There is good news though. Accurate Armour made quite a cool resin version of the kit and after Trumpeter hit the market, AA put a great refit kit out there. Complete Gun, Bellows and recoil chamber, Bins, Photo etch and a lot of replacement detail parts. I recommend the set highly. I have built three of these guns. 1 Trumpeter straight from the box, 1 Trumpeter with AA refit and one complete AA version. I like all three. the OOTB was the toughest to build and clean up.
I attached the Trumpeter with AA refit for your review.
I think, with a little perserverance and patience you will get a kit that you like. It is a gun with thuggish good looks, chunky weight and a fearful looking gun.
Saul Garcia hits a lot of the critical issues in his overall positive review of the kit.
