| The kit is from the sixties - I built it when I was a kid and now I`m in my fifties! Anyway, I think I know the reason for this strange "mix": Up to the seventies, there was a 234/4 (long 7,5mm 40)- but without any fenders - exhibited at Bovington (which they exchanged for a modern Spähpanzer Luchs with a German museum later, so this 234 is, in a finely restored state, now on exhibition there). Airfix must have taken this as the "master" for their model, but they "completed" it with the wrong fenders, the ones from the 231/232 (8-wheeler seems to have been 8-wheeler for them!) - They were not too exact on details then - I remember drawings in an Airfix Magazine of those days converting this 234 into a 231 by just adding a turret! Modeler`s life was easy then :-) |
