Forums - Modelling / Smallscale

The construction forum is for the discussion of small scale AFV modelling. Usually this refers to 1-76th and 1-72nd scale AFVs.

Hi Ken -

First off you miss-understand me. I am a little (repeat a little, not a lot) upset when I frist saw it. And my post on ML is clear and concise. As a designer this is a fairly common occurence. But going from what I have seen, I do not think I am being out of line.

Reading the above, your reaction is over proportioned to my post. This is common because the interent does not allow you to hear or see me in person. Having read the recent Mig book posts this is a legitimate problem. I made a post online about it because there are a lot of people out there who might be unaware this is not a good to do things. And my hope to have it rectified amicably.

I am not threatened in any way and I am flattered by your efforts. But here is a word of advise, and a friendly one because I do not intend for you stop doing what you are doing. It is fairly common knowledge that if you are going to use someone's stuff whether it might be a photo, idea, design, etc. you need to ask permission first. This is stated after the end of every major league sporting event since TV began so I figure it is not overly wrong of me to say so. You never asked me as far as I know so I reacted in kind to what I have seen posted on ML in the New Products section.

I was going to ask for credit for the design and photos and see if you would send me a kit to build. I would have likely done an article on it for one of the magazines.

Remember I was only asking for opinions. I have alreay sent you an email asking your thoughts on this, as I saw it on ML first and was trying to guage public opinion because that is where I am comfortable and know a lot of the guys there already.

I understand this is a small matter and you are a new company. I wish you future success with it and I am not someone big in the hobby, maybe somewhat known from builds and articles, but no major player by any stretch of the imagination. If you want to continue to be in business and grow I suggest you take my advise to heart and you will find nearly everyone you come across is going to more than helpful. I would have been and am willing to do so with you. Again, I have stated I have no bad feelings towards you personally so don't be so taken back. I too am a vet so we share some common interests obviously.

If you think I want some sort of money, you are wrong. Simple credit where credit is due. It is your choice to remove the pic from the box art, but I give you permission to continue if you apply the proper credit to it. Same with the contents, a simple line of credit or something to that affect is more than fair I think.

Discuss my model posts are the site's perrogative and not mine, but there are ways to get a hold of me that are readily available. ML requires you to register your name and email address with them first before making a post. I am surprised the email address is not shown here on Track Link when someone posts.

I hope this eases the situation a bit and please continue to produce these kits, it is always good to have a new resin company in the hobby.

Best,

Mike
