Hi all,
I finally got up the nerve to try something I heard about many, many years ago.
This is in reference to my post below about the Bergepanzer (P) recovery vehicle fenders.
The 1/72 Dragon kit comes with smooth fenders. To recreate the tread pattern, I used the silver foil that comes in packets of cigarettes. (These were Canadian ones; I don't know if U.S. smokes have the same foil.)
I peeled the paper backing off the foil, then cut the foil to size and superglued it on the fender. I used the most liquidy superglue I could find. It appears to have done a great job. I don't currently have a photo as my camera is not available.
The crosshatch pattern on the foil is tiny, and perfect for 1/72 scale. The best thing is, one packets worth will do 6 or 8 kits.
I think as long as one is not too fussy, one could use it for almost any German WWII panzer fenders (all the Hasegawa kits come to mind).
It was a lot simpler to do than I thought possible.
Good luck,

Mike C.
