Hi Steve,

I have both of the Trumpeter JS-3 kits. The only difference in the kit parts is the upper hull.

The JS-3m upper hull includes full length track guards that extend out over the tracks, a different style of re-inforcing ribs on the front and back mud-guards, and different style storage boxes on the side panniers. My understanding is that these changes were done through different modernizations programs to the JS-3.

The kit comes with link-and-length cast plastic tracks with great track detail inside and out.

Also comes with a "ready made" set of tracks and suspension components for a quick war gaming build. The quality of the ready made suspension and tracks is really outstanding. Best set of easy-build suspension and tracks I have seen. The only drawback is the lack of track detail on the inside of the tracks.

Overall, the kit seems really nice. The only drawbacks I noticed, and they were minor, was with the front of the hull. Slight sink marks on the bottom of the front glacis. Will be easy to fill. And no weld seams on the top of the glacis where the lower plate meets the top plates.

John's reply seemed to be addressing the earlier Stalin 2 series, rather than the Stalin 3 series of tanks.

Hope this helps.

Jim M
