Hello
Well I picked up the JS-3 on the weekend and opening the box was impressed. The once piece tracks are very nice. I started construction last night and I liked the brass (?) grab handles for the turrent. they look really good in metal and I'm glad Trumepter didnt mould plastic ones. However I had some trouble cutting all my handles the right length so some of them sit a bit closer to the turret than the others...oh well!
The Dshk is well done and looks suitably fearsome. I will be spraying the JS tonight with Tamiya XF-61 slighty lightened (is this a good match for WW2 era Soviet AFV's ?).
I thouht the kit decals were rubbish, I've had bad experinces with Trumpeter decals (1/700 USS CV 13) so I've scavenged some Red Stars from a DML Maus kit. they have a hastily painted look about them.
I will post a pic of the completed tank when I can get near a digicam!
I might pick up the Sherman this weekend to keep it company. I'm also looking forward to some more Trumpeter 1/72, it's great we are getting so many new kits to build.
happy modelling
