John, I'd say that the last kit I attempted to build was an Airfix B-17 that I had been given for Christmas ca. 1982, give or take a year; I was about 18. Unfortunately that proved to be a very messy build and I put it away in disgust without completing it. I had been regularly building models (mostly aircraft) for a few years prior to that but my tastes in hobbies was changing and the plastic modelling got left behind. I still kept painting though; I was painting miniature fantasy figures (25mm) for role-playing games, but after a couple of years that too got put aside (the painting, that is; I still play the games!). I still have a large collection of (unpainted) miniatures and once or twice in the recent past I've pulled out some paints and sat down and painted a few, but only sporadically. I'm not quite sure what re-awakened my interest in plastic modelling; I think it was the combination of a number of circumstances, but probably the major impetus was the work of some friends of mine who built some terrific kits to be used as trophies in wargaming tournaments. For various reasons I decided to concentrate on vehicular subjects, and here I am!
