Forums - Modelling / Smallscale

The construction forum is for the discussion of small scale AFV modelling. Usually this refers to 1-76th and 1-72nd scale AFVs.

In a way it might be a sort of blessing if it does take a (slight) downturn
;-) Worst for me is that prices have gone up incredibly ! Simple economics,
more demand = higher prices.

Beside which, a whole new plethora of self-proclaimed armchair "experts"
have appeared on the web (and I'll include myself as being more than guilty
as any other) which probably only irritates the vast majority of 30 - 40
year olds coming back into the hobby again, and who are simply looking for
the simple pleasure of building a few models now and again.

Apart from which, if you are prepared to go through some threads on various
discussion groups, with the usual nitpickers (you know the ones, those who
probably haven't completed a kit in donkey's years), and heavy handed
moderators, and of course we armchair experts :-))))) - well....... it's
´nough to scare off even the thickest skinned of folks.

Maybe we should get together lads, all start slagging off smallscale to the
four winds and try and contribute to putting everybody off this scale. Good
for us sure will be, and maybe if we're lucky demand might drop so much that
we'll start to see prices come down as the manufacturers and distributors
sell off their unwanted stock :-)

Happy modelling (even more so if the prices go down by about 50% )

John

P.S. And pleeeeeease, don't take me too seriously.

a have a feeling that 2001 or 2002 may have been the peak. I used to see
mostly planes at the shows, now mostly AFV's. Will we start to see planes
dominate again?
