Stephen,
Many of the Fujimi (especially the old Nitto) kits scale out to 1/72 in
width they are usually not long enough though.
Many of the "accesories" also scale up well.
I've had quite a bit of fun kitbashing up to 1/72 using many parts from
Fujimi kits. The interiors that are often provided will usually fit inside
ESCI kits also. And for the glimpse through the hatch veiw are quite
satisfactory
Go for it.
