| Subject: | We might see something like that in 1:48 scale | |

Tamiya's 1:48 scale range so far has been rather eccentric, but several of the models released or announced so far hadn't been done by Tamiya before in 1:35 scale (early StuG, Hetzer, Citroen, M4A1). They've done the Carrier, which was an odd one considering there are no other British subjects yet, so there is a reasonable chance we'll see something like a British tank.
I really doubt there is much demand for those early Cruisers, however. Let's face it, with the exception of the Mk VIB (one of my favourite early war tanks) they aren't very attractive vehicles, and aren't going to tempt the majority of modellers. The Cromwell was a brave move by Tamiya, and a superb model, but I'm sure they would sell more kits of a later, more powerful vehicle like the Comet than they would with something like the Mk VIB.
I'm still hoping to see at least one British armoured car released in 1:48 scale; IMO the British armoured cars (like the Daimler and Humber) were every bit as cool as anything the Germans produced, and would make terrific models. And I too would be happy with an early Panzer III or Panzer IV to compliment the StuG. |
