Hi guys,

Well Id say that 9 out of 10 I do will have pe added at the least, and tracks if it isnt a indi link kit. Once in while I do an OOB for a quick "relaxer", but I do usually wind up adding a few scrath built parts here and there. I just feel that without pe, the model looks naked. So I usually wind up with a pe set, a plastic or resin track set (fruil just costs too much for me), and a bunch of scratch made items for each project. A good example is the old Tamiya Chieftain Im working on now, it was supposed to be a "relaxer", now I have the Eduard set, side skirts and tracks from Accurate Armor, and Im making alot from brass sheet and wire for it. I did the same thing with my Chaffee, it was supposed to be OOB too! Ive never done an interior as I feel its just too hard to see all that work once the tops on, and theyre too expensive for my wallet. I may try one when I do my Dragon Jagdtiger as I have given that some thought with the large rear door it has.

As far as favorites I dont really have one, each major PE maker has their own merits. Eduard is simple and easy to work with, really enhances the visuals of any kit. Aber is harder and foul word inducing but man it looks awesome when done! And Voyager..... I havent used theirs yet but have one and Im very impressed with what I found in the little cardboard sleve. Tracks I usually try for an AFV Club set or another plastic set, resin is a last resort. Gun barrels, I usually use what comes with the kit. Each one gets popped into my mini lathe to insure roundness once the glue is dry. I see aluminum barrels as more cash spent than is justified for me, unless of course the kit barrel is way off and cannot be fixed. My favorite add on is most likely the scratch made parts though, yes I cuss up a storm while soldering headlight guards from .28 wire, but I love the look and feeling of accomplishment when they are done and look right.

Now with Dragons latest releases, after reading the reviews Im very excited about their quality and aftermarket in the box. Id love to see all manufacturers follow suit as it just makes the "open that new kit" experience an even better high. Im sure when my Initial Tiger shows, Im going to have a WOW! induced high reminesent of the glues effects in the 70's......LOL

RC, great volley of topics btw.

Model on,
Clair
