Whilst appreciating their editorial freedom, it's ironic that those remarks should appear in TMMI (Tamiya model mag, right?). Linking in a little bit with Pauls' post on this forum- it was the rise Tamiya and 1/35 that took a load of Aifix and Matchbox's sales in the UK during the 70's and 80's (when I were a lad) and of course most of the kits were German. Airfix and Matchbox used to have huge ranges of vehicles in their catalogues covering pretty diverse subjects and if memory serves, the bias was probably more in favour Western vehicles.

PS. Thanks for recommending the Scammell Steve, that's awfully flattering. I've got a pre-order in with Cromwell for an ARV MkII- so it may be some time before I recieve it, never mind build it. Still, it gives Italeri time to release a Diamond T to sit it on, maybe with an Accurate Armour fifth wheel conversion kit.....
