Paul -
The preparation is sometimes difficult and messy.
The necessary glues are usually quite unforgiving.
The bubbles, even if rare, are not easily filled and sanded smooth due to their awkward positions, and sometimes doing so reveals more bubbles than were filled on the first go 'round.
Most kits require multi-media experience: resin, white metal, and PE, plus there are often small parts to make from styrene stock or wire.
Warpage complicates fit and finding a flat surface to square things up with is sometimes not as simple as it might seem.
Resin conversions often have the same scale/thickness problems as injected kits, and small resin parts are done well by only a few manufacturers.
Quality and consistency are still problems with too many manufacturers.
So many kits; so little time.
Best,
CTew
