I prefer resin kits!
why? because resin is an ideal material to work with, especialy when you are making things moveable. and resin does not get affected by washing with thinned oil (turpentine etc.).
and resin alows incredible detail. but the quality of a kit matters. the modern casting methods (vacuum or pressure) brings kits without bubbling. Warpage usually is not an issue because it can easyly be solved with heating the part. the only problem is the parts that are unmolded to soon (before the resin is completely hard).
ok, prices are usually higher but there is still ebay, so be patient, you will get the kit you want to a price you like - just a question of time.
